Design



This is a quick design that I came up with using Adobe illustrator. I aim to keep my product as close to this design as possible. However, certain constraints may force me to change my design throughout the manufacturing process.

My plan is to use the CNC machine to cut away the design from modelboard.

The yellow strip around the design will be created physically by an LED shoelace that I have purchased. It will sit in a counter sunk curve that will run around the top surface of the product.



















Here are the first few stages of modelling my MP3 amplifier using Pro Engineer Wildfire 5. in theses two screen shots I have used simple tools such as; sketch, extrude, chamfer and round.




















These two screen shots show how i started to take away material from the underside of the part. to make way for the interior components of the MP3 amplifier. Having space on the inside of the Amplifier will also, decrease the weight as well as increasing the sound quality. The screen shot on the right shows a wireframe cross section of the part, this is how i determined the section that i would have to cut away from the part around the centre axis.
































This is the completed part, ready to be cut out using the Boxford cutting machine.
